The 2015 WNBL MVP has stamped her authority on the 2017/18 season as Abby Bishop led the MAC Adelaide Lightning to an important 87-81 win over Perth Lynx with a huge double-double.

Performing at both ends of the court, Bishop recorded 35 points, ten rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks which included eight points in the final quarter as Adelaide broke away from a three-quarter time tie.

She kicked off the fourth period with an assist to Vanessa Panousis and helped the Lightning to a five-point edge with just over two minutes to go.

Bishop then scored four straight for Adelaide and ended any chance of a late comeback from the Lynx with a block on Alice Kunek as they ran out six-point victors.

Feeling it from the outset, Bishop scored seven of the first nine points for the Lightning and had nine points overall by quarter-time before adding another eight in the second period.

She was dangerous from all areas of the floor, knocking down two three-pointers as well but Adelaide found themselves trailing by ten at half-time.

In response, Bishop nailed the first field goal of the third quarter and the Lightning began to eat away at the deficit, pulling within six halfway through the term.

The forward then collected six straight points in the space of 70 seconds before another jumper just before the siren tied the game heading into the fourth quarter.

At 2-1, Adelaide now sit in third place on the ladder and take on Bendigo at home this Saturday afternoon.
