WNBL20 Finals FAQs

How do the finals playoffs work?

The top four teams at the end of the regular season advance to the finals. The teams finishing in the first and second positions at the completion of the regular season receive home-court advantage in their three-game first-round match-up against the teams finishing in fourth and third positions respectively.

From the final four positioned teams, 1 v 4 (semi final series 1), 2  v 3 (semi final series 2)..

The winners of each series advance to the grand final. With home advantage being awarded to the highest remaining seed, the winner of the three-game grand final series is crowned as WNBL champion.

Why is game three listed as “if required”?

If the same team wins both game 1 and 2, (and the series winner is best of 3 games) the third game becomes redundant as the winner is already determined. As such, there is no requirement to play the third game to determine the winner.

Where will the Semi Final series games be played?

All participating teams in the WNBL Finals will play at least one home game in the finals series, with the higher-seeded team in each series hosting the third game if necessary.

The teams that finish 1st and 2nd will host the first games of series 1 and 2. Click here for finals fixture info.

Where will the Grand Final series be played?

The highest placed semi final series winner will have home court advantage throughout the Grand Final Series and host the 1st game of the Grand Final Series and the 3rd game if required.
