Referee Review System announcement

Basketball Australia announced the introduction of an Instant Review System (IRS) for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season. Further to the implementation of the IRS, the Chemist Warehouse WNBL will also apply additional minor rule changes this season that FIBA introduced from 1 October 2020.

Basketball Australia announced Sports Entertainment Network as its broadcast production partner for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season.

iAthletic WNBL apparel partnership extension announcement

Basketball Australia announced that Australian-owned sports apparel brand, iAthletic, has inked an extension to be the official apparel partner of the Chemist Warehouse WNBL.

Officials appointed for 2020 WNBL season

Basketball Australia announced the 14 referees and three referee coaches who will officiate the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season.

October 30th, 2020

Broadcast Announcement

Fox Sports will broadcast LIVE four games per week (7.00pm AEDT Thursday, 5.00pm AEDT Saturday, 1.00pm AEDT Sunday and 3.00pm AEDT Sunday) on Foxtel and Kayo, with the ABC simulcasting on both their primary channel and ABC iview the 5.00pm Saturday and 3.00pm Sunday games.

In addition to streaming the games that will be broadcast on Foxtel, Kayo will also stream LIVE all remaining games of the 2020 season which will involve multi-camera and expert commentary.

Chemist Warehouse WNBL Tickets on Sale Tomorrow

Tickets for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL regular season go on sale at 1.00pm AEST / 2.00pm AEDT tomorrow, Thursday 29 October from the WNBL website. Venue capacity will be limited in line with Queensland Health COVID-19 protocols, so fans should not delay in securing their tickets to one of the world’s best basketball leagues.

Chemist Warehouse WNBL Fixture Released

The official fixture for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season has been released. The revised season model will feature 60 games of world-class women’s basketball inside six-weeks from November 11 to December 20.

Chemist Warehouse WNBL Roster Updates

Basketball Australia, in close consultation with the WNBL Clubs and Australian Basketball Players’ Association (ABPA), can confirm that official playing rosters for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season will increase from 10 to 12 athletes.

Chemist Warehouse WNBL 2020 Season

Basketball Australia announced that through an innovative partnership with the Queensland Government, the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season will be contested entirely in a North Queensland hub later this year. The Queensland Government’s support along with that of the Cairns Regional Council, Mackay Regional Council and the City of Townsville, will see Cairns, Mackay and Townsville host a revised season structure from November 12, where each team will contest 14 games as part of a 56-game regular season fixture, plus a four game final series (2 x semi-finals, preliminary final and grand final).

Chemist Warehouse WNBL Free Agency

Basketball Australia confirmed that Free Agency for the 2020-21 Chemist Warehouse WNBL Season will open at 1.00pm AEST, Thursday 4 June, when the eight WNBL clubs will be able to begin negotiating with any Unrestricted Free Agents. This year’s Free Agency List is headlined by a number of current Opals’ representatives, plus the possible return of current WNBA players.

Chemist Warehouse WNBL Season Structure

Basketball Australia announced the 2020/21 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season is set to tip-off at the end of November. The season will comprise of 21 regular-season games per team, with the opening round scheduled for 20 – 22 November 2020 and the final round to be contested 3 – 6 March 2021.

Following the regular season, the Semi-Finals Series will take place across the period 12 – 21 March 2021, with the Grand Final Series to occur between 25 – 31 March 2021.
