DAY ONE OF THE ADELAIDE LIGHTNING CAMP

April 22, 2021 | Adelaide Lightning news

Day one of the Adelaide Lightning’s second all-girls camp has commenced and with over 50 new participants involved, new experiences and skills are already being learnt.

Over 50 future young Lightning players took the court for day one of the three-day camp in South Australia this week with a who’s who of SA Women’s Basketball. The coaches included current Adelaide Lightning SA based players in Jasmin Fejo and Taylor Ortlepp with further support from squad members Sam Simons (NBL1 Central Womens Forestville Eagles), Teige Morrell (NBL1 Central Womens Southern Tigers) and several others. They’ve formed a star-studded coaching team that has many first-time girls excited for the camp including Scarlett 12, who already is looking forward to what they will teach the group.

“These are the girls I look up to and want to be like one day,” she shared with us about her first couple of hours into camp experiences.
Sophie 9, is at her first camp and came with a friend for the day,

“I came with mY friend and I am looking forward to working on my offensive,” she beamed with glee.

While Elsie 10, was looking forward to being around all the girls to get better at her skills,

“I came to the camp last school holidays and last time I wasn’t good at one handed shooting with the guiding hand so I wanted to come back and this time I am determined to get better at it,” she confidently declared.

New skills, left hand or non-preferred shooting hand layups was a key desire for the girls and no doubt over the coming days we’ll track their progress and see how they improve in this inclusive friendly and fun environment at Adelaide Lightning April Holidays Camp 2021.
