MAC Adelaide Lightning has announced a new General Manager, elevating current Adelaide Basketball employee Reece Turner into the management team.

Turner boasts a strong basketball background as a player, coach and administrator.

The former Southern Tigers Premier League player started playing basketball when he was just six-years-old and hasn’t looked back since.

He kicked off his administration career as the Director of Basketball Operations at the Darwin Basketball Association, alongside the Adelaide 36ers General Manager of Operations and Basketball, Joe Tertzakian.

During his three-year tenure in the Top End, Turner coached the Under 16 and Under 18 Northern Territory State Teams at the Australian Basketball Championships (2015-16).

The 27-year-old, who currently works as the Community Engagement and Game Day Operations Manager for the Adelaide 36ers and Adelaide Lightning, will continue to do so alongside his general manager duties.

Turner is thrilled to join the management team.

“It’s an exciting time for Adelaide Lightning and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead,” he said.

“Chris and the coaching staff have done a fantastic job re-signing five of last years’ team and signing some new big-name WNBA imports heading our way, so it’s going to be a big season.”

Lightning have two spaces remaining on their roster, having named a squad of nine; Nicole Seekamp, Aimie Clydesdale, Lauren Nicholson, Colleen Planeta, Chelsea Brooke, Stephanie Blicavs, Kayla Alexander, Nia Coffey and Penina Davidson.

The team will unite for the first time in mid-August to begin pre-season training ahead of the 2018-19 WNBL season.
