Bendigo Bank Spirit Star Kelsey Griffin Joins Young Bendigo Lady Braves Coaching Staff

Four-timeÊBendigo Spirit MVP Kelsey Griffin will take her first official steps into coaching, signing with the Young Bendigo Lady Braves as an assistant coach. Griffin will serve as backing for coach and former Spirit player Megan Moody during this year's Big V Youth League Championship season, starting this weekend. Moody led the Lady Braves development team to a Country Basketball League championship win over Wodonga in January. Cameron Wilkosz is the team's other assistant coach. Griffin said she was excited by the prospect of working with talented youngsters like ÊJessie Rennie, Madi Sexton and Ahlise Hurst, who are the future of the Lady Braves program. ÒI have been really impressed by what I have seen so far," Griffin said. "There is so much talent in this team and they work so hard. ÒI canÕt wait to learn from Megan who has a wealth of knowledge and experience and to bring what I can to the setup.Ó Griffin brings a wealth of experience to the role, including five years as a player in the WNBA and one season in the Hungarian national league. The 29-year-old naturalised Australian joined the Spirit in 2012 and was grand final MVP in both of the club's grand final wins. Moody said the addition of Griffin gave her players access to a "great basketball brain". ÒAnyone who has seen Kelsey on court knows how hard she works and how she thinks about the game," she said. ÒHaving her on board is a great way to continue to develop basketball at all levels in Bendigo.Ó The Young Lady Braves will take-on arch-rival Ballarat in their Big V season opener in Dandenong this weekend.
