Bendigo Spirit announce return to Mildura
Bendigo Spirit is delighted to announce that they will be returning to Mildura in 2025, with their Round 11 WNBL home match against the Sydney Flames to be played at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.
Thanks to the Mildura Rural City Council, the Spirit is excited to be bringing their TAC Country Road Game to the region on Sunday 12 January.
“We’re thrilled to be returning to Mildura for our TAC Country Road game,” said Bendigo Spirit General Manager, Dan Jackson. “We consider ourselves fortunate to align with such partners that are committed to bringing elite women’s basketball to regional Victoria.”
“Off the back of the recent announcement that we will also be playing a WNBL home game in Ballarat, plus our home game in Geelong, the Spirit is proud to be aligning with partners like the Mildura Rural City Council, who are committed to ensuring a top-tier league like the WNBL is accessible for as many regional fans as possible.”
Mildura Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer, Martin Hawson, added; “We’re excited to work alongside the Bendigo Spirit to bring Women’s National Basketball League action back to our region in 2025.”
“This will be the third WNBL game played for premiership points at the Mildura Sporting Precinct, with up to 800 spectators once again expected to take in all the action.
“This is yet another shining example of the Mildura Sporting Precinct delivering for our community in terms of bringing national-calibre sporting events to our region.”
The Mildura home match this game is part of the Bendigo Spirit’s regional Victorian partnership strategy with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) – aiming to keep Victorians safe on country roads right across the state – with TAC ‘Country Road’ home games being played in Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong, along with Mildura.
TAC Head of Community, Jacqui Sampson, said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Spirit and the WNBL, not only through their demonstrated commitment to bringing top-tier sport to regional Victoria, but also their ongoing commitment to regional community safety.”
“This partnership is critical to delivering road safety messaging to regional Victorians and ensuring everyone travels safely to and from games.
The match will be presented with thanks to game day partner, Powercor, who also announced a new three-year partnership with the Spirit earlier this month.
The match will tip off at 3pm AEDT, with doors at the Mildura Sporting Precinct to open from 2pm. Tickets are now available to purchase online.
The match will also be available via broadcast on Nine’s free digital channel; 9Now.
