Spirit Add Valuable Youth

The Spirit are excited to announce the last addition to the 2019-2020 roster, with Demi Skinner.

Being a South Australian native, Skinner is no stranger to Coach York, “It’s a dream that has turned into reality and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. I can’t wait to be a part of the Spirit family!”, Skinner said about joining the club.

Currently representing the Toowoomba Mountaineers in the Queensland Basketball League, Skinner has had an impressive season. Starting all 18 games for the 2019 season, she averaged 16.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Notching a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds in the opening game of the season and scoring in double figures in all games but one, with a season high of 26 points against the Cairns Dolphins.

Head Coach York was pleased to speak about the latest signing, saying “We would like to welcome Demi to the Spirit. She brings experience playing at State and Nationals for SA Country, represented Australia for the Gems at Oceania, was the 2018 MVP of the Southern Tigers Premier League Women and 3rd in the Premier League overall MVP voting. Additionally she was MVP for the Malaysian League in 2018 and a former AIS Scholarship holder. She brings a wealth of experience and we look forward to Demi joining us at the Spirit.”
