The 2019-20 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season fixture has been released.

A replay of the 2019 Grand Final between Adelaide Lightning and the UC Capitals will feature in the opening round of the season on Sunday, October 13 at the AIS Arena in Canberra.

The newly named Southside Flyers will debut their colours at home in Dandenong against Townsville on Saturday October 12.

The sixteen round fixture will again include three weeks of finals with the three-game Grand Final series to commence Saturday, March 1.

Due to a change in Qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics the Chemist Warehouse Australian Opals will need to play in two FIBA qualifications series in November and February. The league will pause for a week to allow the Opals to travel overseas.

Basketball Australia’s Head of Women in Basketball Lauren Jackson said this WNBL season will be a special one.

“In 2019-20 we will celebrate the 40th WNBL season,” Ms Jackson said.

“It’s a milestone that we hope all sporting fans will join in to celebrate. Throughout the year we will be acknowledging the stars from our four decades and the many current stars who also dominate on the world stage.

“I look forward to my first WNBL season in my new role and wish all the teams the best of luck for the season ahead.”

In 2019-20 Chemist Warehouse WNBL games will again be broadcast on Fox Sports. Games for broadcast are yet to be confirmed.
