BOAG BACK AT THE FLAMES

Yet another member of the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames 2016/17 WNBL championship roster will be back for 2017/18, with the announcement today that forward Carly Boag will return for her third season with the club. With 49 appearances under her belt to this point, Boag will bring up her 50th appearance for the Flames in her first game of the upcoming season.
Coming off a decorated college career at NCAA Division II team Minot State, where she was named an All-American in two of her four seasons and finished her career as the teamÕs all-time leading scorer, Boag moved to France for 2014/15 to play for Leon Tregor Basket 29 in the French second league.
One of the most effective players on the team, Boag averaged 11.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in 21 appearances as the team finished the season in 8th position.
Boag first signed with the Flames in 2015/16, and had an instant impact on the court for the team.
Finishing third in the team for rebounding, the emerging forward averaged 5.6 boards per game to go with 5.5 points per game to provide some real spark off the bench for the Flames.
Boag backed up that scoring in the 2016/17 season, tallying 5.9 points per game as well as 3.6 rebounds per contest.
Although known more as a presence in the paint, Boag has developed a solid outside shot and finished the 2016/17 season shooting at 50% from beyond the arc.
Boag has provided excellent impact off the bench in her first two seasons in the WNBL.
That is certainly not lost on Flames coach Cheryl Chambers, who is excited to have the opportunity to help further BoagÕs development going forward.

Now entering her third season with the Flames, Boag has firmly established herself as one of the teamÕs most reliable options off the bench and is set to enhance her impact for the team going into this season.

Recently, Boag has been spending the winter playing for the Mandurah Magic of Western AustraliaÕs SBL.
Averaging over 20 points and 11 rebounds per game to sit in the top 10 in the league in both categories, Boag recently played in the leagueÕs All-Star game following her outstanding performances in the first half of the SBL season.
Earning a starting spot in the South All-Star team, Boag was equal top-scorer with 18 points and also secured 12 rebounds as the South team rolled to a 106-66 win over the North All-Stars.
Her outstanding play in the SBL will no doubt stand Boag in good stead coming into what will no doubt be one of the most hotly contested WNBL seasons in recent memory.
