FLAMES TO RECOGNISE LJ IN MOMENTUS WNBL GAME

January 25, 2024 | WNBL news

The Sydney Flames today announced that they will be playing their final regular season game of the Cygnett WNBL season on Sunday February 18, as a stand-alone game at Qudos Bank Arena – a first for the WNBL.

The opponent in the Round 14 clash is the Southside Flyers, and therefore the Flames will also recognise the contributions of Lauren Jackson to NSW basketball at the game.

“Lauren is an incredible athlete and the greatest Australian basketball player to date. She’s had success at every level – and continues to give back and inspire the next generations of Australian basketball players”, said Flames president Victoria Denholm.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to thank her for everything she’s done for the basketball community in her home state.”

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Quaycentre at 1.30pm, and will now shift to Qudos Bank Arena at 3.00pm to allow more basketball fans to attend.

With a capacity of up to 21,000, the Flames are hoping to eclipse the WNBL’s largest crowd of 7,681, which happened to be set between the same two teams in the 22/23 WNBL Season, at John Cain Arena in Melbourne.

Fans will be able to purchase their tickets to this not-to-be-missed fixture from Monday January 29 here. The game will also be shown LIVE and FREE on 9Now.
