The opening quarter saw the Perth Lynx establish an early lead, with Ciabattoni notching the first bucket and Emily Potter spearheading the scoring with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal. Despite their lead, Perth struggled from beyond the arc in the first quarter. Adelaide, anchored by Brianna Turner’s 6 rebounds and Isabelle Bourne’s 6 points, managed to keep the game within reach. At the end of the first quarter, Perth held a 6-point advantage, leading 20-14.

Townsville remain top team after defeating Perth Lynx
Summary
The clash between first (Townsville) and second (Perth) on the ladder ended with Townsville remaining the dominant team in the league, pushing Lynx down to third position. Two milestone games aswell with both Anneli Maley and Zitina Aokuso reaching 100 games.
It wasn’t in Townsville’s hands in the first half as the visitors, Perth Lynx, made theΒ first half a catch up game leading until the final minute of the second quarter where Townsville would go into the break leading by 2 points, (54-52).
The switch flipped going into the second half seeing Townsville play their routine style of game which has earned them top spot on the ladder so far. Townsville were able to turn the ball over and rebound more converting Perth’s mistakes into their goals.
Mikaela Ruef was the Player of the Game.

Adelaide Lightning make a much needed comeback against the Sydney Flames
Summary
Friday night basketball saw the Adelaide Lightning and Sydney Flames, battle it out in front of a Lightning home crowd. Despite the Lightning holding a lead heading into the second half; the Flames powered over in the third quarter. The Lightning made a much-needed comeback in the final quarter to secure a 74 – 67 win over the Sydney team.
Star players included Isobel Borlase and Tayla Brazel of the Adelaide Lightning with 14 points each. Whilst Elizabeth Tonks came out on top as the Player of the Day for the Lightning with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 3-3 from 3.
Tonight’s game also saw Sydney Flames player, Cayla George, take the number 4 spot on the WNBL’s All-Time points scorers list, overtaking Belinda Snell.

UC Capitals Stage Impressive Comeback in Their First Away Win of the Season
Summary
In a highly anticipated match up, the UC Capitals faced off against the Southside Flyers in a riveting clash. The Caps faced a slow start but were able to stay within striking distance of Southside, trailing by just 4 points at halftime. The second half witnessed a remarkable defensive surge from The Caps, stifling Southside and orchestrating an impressive comeback. The UC Caps emerged victorious with a 10 point win, marking a significant milestone as they clinched their first away win of the season. Jade Melbourne and Alex Sharp emerged as standout players, both contributing 17 points to the triumphant performance.
The Caps now head home for their next clash against Perth Lynx on Thursday.

Melbourne Boomers put out the fire and dominate in win against Sydney Flames
Summary
The Melbourne Boomers gave it their all on Sunday afternoon to win against the Sydney Flames 62-55. The Boomers proved too much for the home team as the Melbourne team retained a solid lead for the majority of the match.
Top players for the day included Lauren Nicholson of the Sydney Flames with 19 points and Jordin Canada of the Melbourne Boomers with 12. However, Naz Hillmon of the Boomers came out on top with a double double; 14 points and 10 rebounds to earn her the coveted Player of the Game.

Townsville Fire remain on the winners list, defeating the Bendigo Spirit
Summary
Townsville Fire have prevailed over Bendigo Spirit in round 10 of the WNBL season, ending with a final score of 86-72. Both teams came in hungry for a win, wanting to prove their competitiveness.
The first half saw both teams come out fighting in a tight arm wrestle. The Fire were able to create and maintain a small lead throughout the first half, but Bendigo were hot on their tails, finishing at half time with a score of 38-40.
Both teams came out strong once again in the second half. The third term saw the Fire create a 9 point lead, with the help of Steph Reid’s defensive efforts, accumulating 3 steals by the end of the third quarter. The Spirit were able to close the gap in the beginning of the fourth quarter. However the Fire proved too dominant on the night, creating a game high 14 point lead and taking home the win.
