WELCOME TO THE 2018/19 CHEMIST WAREHOUSE WNBL SEASON FROM SALLY PHILLIPS

October 12, 2018 | WNBL news

On behalf of Basketball Australia and the Chemist Warehouse WNBL Championship, I would like to welcome everyone to the Women’s National Basketball League for 2018/19.

Founded in 1981, the WNBL is Australia’s longest running elite female national competition and we are now entering an incredible 38th consecutive season.

I am delighted to welcome Chemist Warehouse, a brand that genuinely cares about our league and its athletes, as the WNBL’s naming rights sponsor this season.

Their support will ensure that our league can continue to gain momentum and strive forward into an exciting future.

FOX SPORTS Australia return as a broadcast partner this year for a second consecutive season, televising a game per week as well as every finals clash.

In more exciting news, SBS is bringing the WNBL to free-to-air television in 2018/19 as they simulcast 14 regular season games live on Saturday afternoons at 3pm.

Those games will also be live-streamed via SBS On Demand and sbs.com.au/sport.

The WNBL is unique as a professional league in that it remains community orientated. Our fabulous players are accessible to fans and clubs continue to deliver brilliant game-day activations that fans will love.

WNBL game days are the perfect opportunity for families to attend world class sport and get up close and personal with the league’s stars. Women and children are crying out for real role models and that is what the WNBL delivers- real, amazing and accessible Aussie women!

On behalf of the WNBL, I would like to thank our commercial partners for their invaluable support; Chemist Warehouse, FOX SPORTS Australia, Qantas, Spalding, the AIS, iAthletic and SBS Australia.

I can’t wait for the season to get underway!
