SARA BLICAVS TO RECEIVE LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Bronze medal winning Opal and fan-favourite, Sara Blicavs will play her 250th game tonight when Southside take on the UC Capitals.
Blicavs will suit up for the Southside Flyers in front of a home crowd at the State Basketball Centre, as she becomes the 76th WNBL Life Member in recognition of her decorated career in the competition.
Blicavs made her WNBL debut back in December 2009 with the AIS against her current club, Dandenong Rangers and graduated from the AIS three seasons later in 2012. After a brief stint at the Rangers, Blicavs moved to Bendigo where she won her first WNBL Championship in the 2013/14 season.
She moved back to Dandenong/Southside Flyers and won her second WNBL Championship in 2020, as well as making the All-WNBL Second Team that same season.
Currently averaging 12.6 points and 6 rebounds per game in her 14th season, Blicavs just keeps on getting better! A Tokyo 2020 Olympian, and a vital member of the recent bronze medal winning Women’s FIBA World Cup team, Blicavs has become a powerhouse, both internationally and domestically.
