Perth Lynx have regained some crucial confidence after a disheartening few weeks according to star guard Lauren Mansfield.

The Lynx lost three games in overtime from rounds 2 to 4 but returned to the WNBL winners list last weekend with a solid win over Sydney Uni Flames.

“It was nice to get another win on the board, definitely happy about that,’’ Mansfield told The Chemist Warehouse WNBL Show.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been on a team where we’ve gone to 2 overtimes in a row, so it was pretty crazy. It was a bit disheartening losing all 3 of them but I think also you’ve got to take out the positives and we were right there with some great teams as well.

“It came down to execution towards the end of the stretch and being a bit more disciplined with our defensive fouls and things like that but we’re certainly happy to get the win on the board last weekend and move on from that.”

Mansfield shone a light on co-captain Katie-Rae Ebzery who has been in stellar form for the Lynx and is currently representing the Opals in Malaysia.

“I love playing with Katie. She’s such a good leader, she’s been very aggressive and I think she’s got such a quick first step that she’s really hard to guard and so she’s really creating for us and playing really well. It’s awesome to see and then this week she started to knock down her three-ball as well which has been really good.”

Omitted from the Opals squad, Mansfield is focused on getting her body right and earning national selection once again.

“Obviously I was disappointed, it’s been a bit of a frustrating run for me with my injuries and stuff like that. My main thing right now is staying healthy then obviously using it as motivation – I really need to get in a bit of form,’’ she said.

“It’s one day at a time, working on my game and trying to get better, looking after my body, staying healthy and trying to find a bit of form.”
