WNBL Trailblazers
The Cygnett WNBL are excited to announce the launch of a WNBL Alumni – the WNBL Trailblazers – a project conceived and brought to life by WNBL Life Member Tracey Browning, who is working in collaboration with the WNBL. The WNBL Trailblazers creates a powerful former players cohort supporting past, current and future players.
With record crowds and viewing audiences and the launch of the WNBL to an international audience via the WNBA App, the time is right to form this valuable support and networking group.
In the first 12-months the aim will be to reach out to as many former WNBL players as possible to make them aware of the alumni, and link them to the WNBL. A number of functions will be held around the country, providing an opportunity for players to reconnect, share stories, and rekindle friendships, and the WNBL website will dedicate space to the alumni.
Tracey’s long-term vision is to for the WNBL Trailblazers to form a charitable foundation by the WNBL’s 50th Season, enabling this respected alumni to support disadvantaged young players.
“Reconnecting people from the early WNBL days has always been a passion of mine and I am beyond excited to be collaborating with the WNBL to form this alumni group and have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the WNBL and it’s amazing athletes”
Head of WNBL, Christy Collier-Hill, recognises the importance of the WNBL alumni.
“The WNBL has been around for 44 seasons now, and every single player who has been part of it over that time has contributed to its success. We’re therefore thrilled to be developing an alumni program – the WNBL Trailblazers – led by WNBL Life Member, Tracey Browning, to reconnect with all of these fabulous women, show them we value their contributions, and engage more with them in the future to help continue to grow this incredible league.”
The very first WNBL Trailblazers function will be held on Saturday 17th February in Adelaide before the Adelaide Lightning v Melbourne Boomers game.
Invitations will be sent out to all on the WNBL former players current database, with information about attending. If you would like more information, would like to be involved, or need to update contact details, please contact Tracey Browning directly on tracey@gamechangerevents.com.au.
