Written by Georgia Lee

In an electrifying match up, the Perth Lynx have defeated the minor premiers, Townsville Fire in their first triumph of the team’s 3 game final series. The two best offensive teams in the competition faced off in the tight tussle at Townsville Entertainment Centre, where robust offensive plays were on display early with both teams coming out strong to create a high scoring opening few minutes.

The first half saw both teams competing to solidify their spot as the number one offensive team of the night. It was evident that both teams came to play their way and were not backing down. Townsville opened the first quarter by creating a small lead, with Perth remaining hot on their tails. The intensity continued into the second quarter as both teams sustained their fierce styles of play. The Lynx tried to create a surge late in the first half, but a shooting foul beyond the 3 point line saw Sami Whitcomb take her free throws to create a 7 point lead for Townsville going into the second half (51-44).

The fast paced, back and forth scoring was once again showcased which created an electric atmosphere. Perth were able to flip the script and take the lead during the third quarter away from the Fire.
