Round 4 Heat Check: Haley Jones
It was a tough night on Saturday night, with our side handed a 13 point loss against the UC Capitals on our home floor – But despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take out of the game.
One in particular being the consistent form of star import, Haley Jones.
Haley lead Geelong’s scoring on Saturday night racking up 16 points for the game, and was a big presence on the glass with the team’s second highest rebound count with 7, two behind captain Keely Froling.
“One thing I’m learning here is how to be more efficient,” Haley said after the game. “Trying to work on my leadership, which Chris (Lucas) holds me accountable to, working on being vocal, sharing my knowledge of the game even though I am still one of the younger ones – Being here is really helping me grow as a leader.”
Head Coach, Chris Lucas remains positive about the road ahead for the season, and offered much praise to his star import both on and off the court, “High quality human being. I’ve been watching Haley for quite a few years, and I feel like we can help her grow with her game as well,” he said. “This is her first gig overseas, and I have no doubt she’s going to go back a better player. I just want her to enjoy it, and help me lead this team to get better everyday.”
