6 FEB CHANGE OF VENUE: Boomers to take on Perth in Gippsland

January 28, 2022 | Melbourne Boomers news

As a result of the ongoing impacts of COVID and the decision of the WA government to defer the opening of its borders, the WNBL has just released an updated fixture for next weekend’s Round 10 – scheduled for the weekend of the 5th & 6th of February.

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers’ game against Perth Lynx will now be played on Sunday, 6th of February 6:00pm AEDT at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in Traralgon.

“The postponement of the game in January was a disappointment. However, we are thankful for the support of all our stakeholders and our entire organisation is excited to showcase the WNBL in Traralgon and bring this game back next Sunday,” said Deakin Melbourne Boomers Chair Tony Hallam.

Sport around Australia and across the world has been impacted by the virus and border closures, with games postponed in most elite competitions and the WNBL is no exception. However, we apologise for any disruption for fans and members.

The health and safety of the players, coaches, clubs, staff and fans continues to be the number one priority when considering these matters.

In the coming days there will be further announcements about the remainder of the season and we send our best to everyone working so hard to help the community at this time.

Stay safe and we hope you can be there to cheer us on in person, or via Kayo from home!
