Past and present Boomers players feature heavily in The Chemist Warehouse WNBL All Time Stats Leader board. Of course, there’s the legendary names of Michelle Timms and Liz Cambage, but also no shortage of other Boomers in Cayla George, Lindsay Allen, Sharin Milner and Debbie Slimmon.

The all-time stat leader board is a unique insight into how players over the decades continue to stack up against one another, despite playing out their careers in an ever-evolving sport.

Recorded are the top ten (totals and averages per game) in points, assists, blocks, steals, field goals attempted, three-pointers attempted, free throws attempted, as well as total, offensive and defensive rebounds. At least one past or present Boomers player makes an appearance in each category.

At 270 games into her WNBL career, consistency is Cayla George’s middle name. Testament to this is her 5 appearances in the all-time stats. The Boomers co-captain and Australian Opal capped off last season seventh in total rebounds, and averaging sixth in steals, fourth in blocks, and seventh in turnovers – across the whole league.

George’s all-time stats see her come in third for total rebounds (2560) and sixth in average rebounds (9.5). Joining George in this category is Boomers alum Debbie Slimmon, holding fifth in total rebounds (2296) for her 199 games, and an average of 11.5, to come in at second on the all-time average’s leader board.

Slimmon and George continue to keep each other company in the defensive rebound category. With a total of 1945, at third place, George is also second in averages – a 7.2 behind Lauren Jackson’s 8.1 (across 172 games). Slimmon, who played in the 80’s and 90’s and holds a place on Basketball Victoria’s Wall of Fame, stays close by once more, with an average of 6.7.

In terms of total blocks – George is sixth, with 345, with former Boomer and now WNBA centre, Liz Cambage, coming in at seventh for averages, with a 1.9 for 126 games for her time in the WNBL.  Cambage also still holds fifth place, for an 18.8 average on points scored.

Playing 43 games over the past two seasons (both of which with the Boomers), Lindsay Allen has managed to earn herself a place on this impressive list. The American import is fourth in average assists (5.0).

Allen’s prowess in passing and the ability to maintain composure when it’s needed the most, made an immediate impact in her debut season with the Boomers in 2018/19. Her average assists for the season came in at a 5.3 that year, placing her at fourth in the league, backing it up to come it at seventh last season. On the all-time list, she joins other past Boomers players, including:

  • Sharin Milner, who comes in 10th in both total and average assists – 908 total and a 3.8 average;
  • Boomers legend, Michele Timms holds fifth place with a total of 1070 across her stellar 285 game career;
  • And, Jenna O’Hea is eighth with a total of 987 from 273 games.

Michelle Timms continues to hold her own, still making the list a total of six times. Slimmon dominates offensive rebounds, even now no closer to being knocked from first place with an average of 4.8. Michelle Cleary and Samantha Thornton also continue to fly the Boomers flag in their categories.

The upcoming 2020/21 season is set to be an exciting one, and we can’t wait to see how this will reflect through the WNBL’s All Time Stat Leaders when this time next year rolls around!
