Big Win For Opals, Next Up Turkey

The Chemist Warehouse Opals made it two wins from two games at the FIBA World Cup and will now enjoy a rest day before tacking Turkey in their final group game.

Ezi Magbegor (pictured) was a leading contributor in Sunday night’s 84-43 win over Argentina, the Boomers forward scoring 14 points to go with 8 rebounds. Liz Cambage was again on fire, dropping 24pts in 17 minutes of action in the blowout victory.

Cayla George and Steph Talbot also played their part in the win, while Jenna O’Hea was again rested ahead of bigger games later this week.

Turkey succumbed to Nigeria in their second game of the tournament and now have a 1-1 record ahead of their clash with Australia.

Australia 84 (Liz Cambage 24pts, Sam Whitcomb 16pts, Ezi Magbegor 14pts, Alanna Smith 10pts) defeated Argentina 43 (Macarena Rosset 13pts).
