Now in its third year, the successful and very popular AND1 3x3 Cup schedule for the coming Deakin Melbourne Boomers WNBL season has been announced. Eight grassroots clubs will compete in both the U12 and U14 girls age groups for the AND1 3x3 Cup, which is played at half-time during Melbourne's WNBL games, with winners of each game progressing through to the eventual grand final match-ups. This season's eight clubs to participate in each age group will includeÊGeelong and Sunbury for the first time. They will join Craigieburn, South-East Eagles, Waverley, McKinnon, Nunawading and Bulleen. "This is our third year in the AND1 Cup, our girls absolutely love having the chance to step on the same court as their favourite Melbourne Boomers players and be a part of a WNBL event," said McKinnon General Manager Alison Cody, adding "The families also enjoy coming along and watching them, it's a great competition and is very popular amongst our McKinnon community." 15073429_1141421012613324_3096205114170629603_nÊÊ15042155_1141420782613347_5669745397397080644_oÊ Ê15110838_1141420882613337_665649278711939967_o Deakin Melbourne Boomers General Manager Justin Nelson is delighted to see the continued growth of the competition and the ongoing support by AND1. "We are totally focused on the connection between the grassroots level and what we do at the elite end, so to provide the chance for young girls to step on court and play at half-time of a WNBL game featuring the team they support in the big league is such an exciting opportunity for the kids," said Nelson. "AND1 has partnered us from the start and continue to be just as excited as us when tomorrow's stars run out on court and play in front of big crowds. AND1 is a very popular basketball brand and have always been strong supporters of the grassroots level, so it is a perfect fit that we both enjoy promoting." 2017 AND1 Cup 3x3 Schedule - U12 & U14 Girls Geelong vs Sunbury (Friday October 13 @ Geelong Arena) Craigieburn vs Waverley (Saturday October 21 @ State Basketball Centre) McKinnon vs South-East Eagles (Monday November 6 @ State Basketball Centre) Nunawading vs Bulleen (Sunday November 12 @ State Basketball Centre) Semi-Final 1 (Saturday December 2 @ State Basketball Centre) Semi-Final 2 (Thursday December 7 @ State Basketball Centre) Grand Final (Sunday December 17 @ State Basketball Centre)
