Boomers Quartet Selected For Opals Selection Camp

August 1, 2018 | Melbourne Boomers news

Deakin Melbourne Boomers quartet Jenna O’Hea, Cayla George, Ezi Magbegor and Steph Talbot have been selected for a coming Opals selection camp. The four players have already tasted national team success together earlier this year when they won gold at the Commonwealth Games.

The Chemist Warehouse Australian Opals have announced the squad that will attend the selection camp for the upcoming 2018 FIBA World Cup.

The selection camp will take place from the 10th – 17th of August at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport, with only the athletes that are currently in Australia required to attend.

A 12-player squad will be picked to travel to Spain for the FIBA Women’s World Cup to be held 22nd – 30th of September 2018 in Tenerife, Spain, resulting from the selection camp.

O’Hea and Magbegor just returned from a tour with the Opals in China where they both compiled a number of good performances.

For George and Talbot, current duties in the WNBA will preclude them from attending the camp.
