Kate Harrington has won the inaugural Deakin Melbourne Boomers U14 Skills Challenge Grand Final for the 18/19 season.

The Hawthorn Magic representative went through three thrilling rounds to get to the Grand Final, and, through an energetic display came out as Champion last Friday night.

Runners-up were Alannah Proietto from Camberwell Dragons and Nellie Tragardh from the Balwyn Blazers.

Introduced at the beginning of this season, the U14 Skills Challenge provided a chance for young girls to step on court at the quarter-time break during Melbourne’s WNBL games.

The exciting dribbling and shooting race involved three to four participants, with the winners of each game progressing through to the eventual grand final match-ups.

This opportunity was available to these young athletes as part of their clubs’ partnership with the Boomers this season.

The Grand Final brings the Boomers junior club activation to a conclusion for the 18/19 season, following the Casey Cavaliers  domination in the successful and very popular U12’s and U14’s 3×3 AND1 Cup against McKinnon and the Kilsyth Cobras.

The Boomers would like to thank the 81 partnering grassroots clubs and associations who have supported the team throughout the WNBL 18/19 season.
