Grassroots Hoops The Big Winner This Thursday Night

December 2, 2017 | Melbourne Boomers news

If you play junior basketball, no matter the level or the club, all roads lead to the State Basketball Centre this Thursday night (Dec 7) for the big inter-Victorian showdown between the Deakin Melbourne Boomers and Bendigo Spirit.

Now in its third year, the very popular Wear Your Colours game returns this week and junior players from across Melbourne and beyond are expected to flock to the event.

Backed by Basketball Victoria, any junior who arrives at the game this Thursday wearing their own team or club colours will receive free entry. A playing singlet or shorts, t-shirt, hoodie, warm-up top or tracksuit will do the trick.

Wear your colours and you’re in!

Melbourne’s WNBL team has 11 players on its roster this season who came through the grassroots pathway with Victorian clubs, so this week’s theme resonates strongly with the home-grown philosophy of the Boomers.

The club’s expanding partnerships with basketball clubs and associations will also be recognised with a pre-match function for the 33 partners taking place.
