Record Crowd For Grand Final As Boomers Smash Ticket Sales

January 9, 2018 | Melbourne Boomers news

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers will play in front of more than 3,400 supporters when they hit the court next Thursday for a home Grand Final game against Townsville Fire.

Club members snapped up more than half of all seats at the State Basketball Centre during a priority access period ahead of the club being swamped with sales when tickets went live to the general public.

The demand for tickets was so great on Tuesday morning that more than a thousand tickets were snapped up within minutes.

Within a few hours all but a hundred tickets had been exhausted.

“It’s yet another ground-breaking day for the club, just a remarkable response by our members and all the Boomers supporters out there,” said Boomers GM Justin Nelson.

“This season we have thirteen-hundred members and they took full advantage of the priority access to finals tickets that comes with being a member. It’s fantastic that we have been able to reward our growing membership base with finals basketball.”

“The online demand when tickets went on sale this morning was extraordinary, we were literally selling more than one hundred tickets per minute,” added Nelson.

And though remaining tight-lipped, Nelson said the Boomers had something very special in store for the fans next Thursday night.

“Working with Deakin University we have something special for the fans, a bit of a thank you for their unbelievable support this season. Stay tuned!”
