Update to Members – 2 Days to home opener

November 11, 2022 | Melbourne Boomers news

Dear Boomers Members,

First of all, thank for your continued support – it is terrific to have you on board for the 22-23 WNBL Season.

This update includes details for Member arrangements along with some club news.

We head into our Home Opener this Sunday with a 1:1 record.  It was great to see so many Gold Members accept the opportunity from us to come to the Flyers game last night following our opening game win in Perth.

Our home games this side of Christmas are:

  • HOME OPENER – Sunday 13 November at Parkville – 3pm vs Adelaide
  • HOME – Sunday 20 November at Parkville – 3pm vs Canberra
  • HOME – Wednesday 7 December at State Basketball Centre – 6.30pm vs Townsville
  • HOME – Thursday 22 December at State Basketball Centre – 7.30pm vs Adelaide

Members Arrangements Include:

  1. Our Home Opener on November 13 will include ceremony to unfurl our 21-22 Championship Banner (worth the wait).
  2. Membership packs will be available to pick up at the first 3 home games above. At Parkville this is outside Gate A entrance (after this packs will be posted out to address on your member account).
  3. We are expecting a near capacity crowd so please arrive early so you can collect your Member pack and be in your seats for this memorable moment. We would suggest planning to arrive by 2.30pm.
  4. Membership cards:
    1. A hard copy membership card will be included in your membership pack.
    2. Digital membership cards will also be available. Details on adding these to your wallet will be included in your membership packs.
    3. Either hard copy or digital cards will be able to be used for entry to home games (but only one per game).
  5. Membership packs will include lots of goodies including Boomers scarf (wear it proudly), merchandise voucher and fixture magnet. The new sticker pack for kids (young and not so young 😊) will be available at the game on November 20 or December 7 (apologies production delays have caused this).
  6. There is ample parking at Parkville either at Melbourne Sports Centre or around the Zoo. Public transport is a good option too.   Please see our website for details or check the PTV app.
  7. If you have not received your Ticketek membership confirmation email following purchase best to first check your junk folder.

General Admission members will be sitting in the Southern stand behind the baseline at Boomers bench end of the court.

Membership Servicing:

Enquiries are made thru email memberships@melbourneboomers.com.au or WhatsApp (create a contact on your phone and send any queries through to 0480 392 947).  The Whatsapp option is simple.  Please note that our membership service people are not full-time (except on game day) and hence sometimes we all need some patience and kindness.

As our Members we wanted to update you on our progress and give you a heads up on a few notable matters related to the team.

A couple of updates on our athletes:

  • Tess Madgen returned from Opals duty with a troublesome knee and she underwent knee surgery and we expect Tess back on court in December.
  • Lily Scanlon and the Boomers have made the decision to focus on rehabilitation of an achilles injury and this will mean she will sit out for the foreseeable future. The injury was sustained during pre-season, and Lily is expected to make a full recovery. Lily, a member of the 2022 WNBL Championship winning team, will focus on her rehabilitation. The timeframe for return to playing is to be determined however she is likely to miss the remainder of the Cygnett WNBL regular season.  See this article for more details https://wnbl.basketball/melbourne/news/lily-scanlon-injury-update/
  • The rest of the team is training hard and whilst we may have a slower start to the season due to our preparation we fully expect to be in the hunt – “Humble but hungry” Champions.

The Home Opener on Sunday will be a special day – so please make a special effort to be there to celebrate and support the team.

If you cannot get there, remember you can watch every game live on 9Now and ESPN/Kayo (Wednesday nights).

Thanks again for your loyalty and support – we are “Humble but Hungry”
