WOMEN WITH DRIVE…ON TV

September 27, 2021 | Melbourne Boomers news

At 7.30pm on Thursday 30 September, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers show, Women With Drive, will launch on Channel 31 Melbourne, and run for 13 consecutive weeks.

The Women With Drive show started as a podcast back in July, providing targeted and specific Australian female basketball news coverage with exclusive insights.

Hosted by WNBL and NBL1 athlete, Lou Brown, the show fills a gap that exists for content on all things women’s basketball.

With such great, professionally presented content, Channel 31 offered the Boomers the opportunity to take the show to TV.

The show will feature interviews with current players, great stories from past players and a range of guest hosts. With the FIBA Asia Cup currently in swing, followed by WNBL 21-22, there’ll be no shortage of content over the 13-week run.

While basketball specific, the show is for both basketball and sports fans alike.

Boomers General Manager, Christy Collier-Hill, is thrilled to have the show transitioning to TV.

“We started the podcast to help bridge the gap, even if it’s just a little, in the media coverage of women’s sport, and in particular, women’s basketball.

The opportunity to now have this show on TV means we can reach even more people.”

You can catch Women With Drive on Thursday night, 7.30pm, Channel 31 (TV) or online at https://c31.org.au/.

The show will continue to run as a podcast, and therefore you can also find it on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, or watch it on the Boomers YouTube Channel.
