September 23, 2018 | Melbourne Boomers news

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers went into a battle against Dandenong at Casey Stadium on Sunday with no less than 10 players missing the contest, but for the eight players in purple an 81-70 win kept the crowd entertained.

The Boomers worked their way to an early lead and never looked back with Monqiue Conti (22pts), Sarah Boothe (14pts, 12rbs), Lindsay Allen (12pts, 8ast), Ash Grant (10pts, 7rbs) and Kalani Purcell (7pts, 7rbs, 6ast, 4stl) leading an even team performance.

A passionate crowd enjoyed the contest before stepping on court and meeting their favourite Boomers players. Those in uniform were Conti, Boothe, Allen, Grant, Purcell, Chelsea D’Angelo, Lara Edmanson and Josie Stockill.

For the Rangers, 12 players saw action with Kiera Rowe (17pts) and Bec Cole (15pts) leading the scoring. Both Carly Mijovic (injured) and Tessa Lavey (Opals) were out of action.

Next up for the Boomers is a Super Clinic and Family Day led by Lauren Jackson and the players between 1pm and 4pm this Friday (Sept 28) at State Basketball Stadium.

Melbourne’s WNBL team will next be in game action on Friday October 5 when they again host Dandenong Rangers from 7pm at State Basketball Stadium.
