Perth Lynx are delighted to announce star Amy Atwell is locked in for the 2024-25 WNBL season.

The sharpshooting guard was a massive reason behind the Lynx’s charge towards last season’s grand final, finishing second in the league for scoring with 18.8 points per game, including 40.1 percent from deep.

Atwell’s opening-game performance in the grand final series against Southside was something special, amassing 30 points, including nine triples, in a stunning victory.

Her season was recognised with a call-up to Phoenix Mercury’s WNBA training camp.

WA product Atwell, who is currently with the Australian Opals as a training player ahead of the Paris Olympics, said she was excited to return to her home club and hoped to go one step further this season.

“I am super excited about re signing with Perth, it’s home for me and it’s been a huge part of the growth of my game and career over the last 18 months,” Atwell said.

“I love Ryan’s (head coach Ryan Petrik) system and I think we are building a great group that can hopefully take it one step further this year.

“I can’t wait to get over there and get to work.”

Lynx head coach Ryan Petrik was excited to welcome Atwell back, describing her as a special, game-winning talent.

“The last two seasons in the Lynx uniform I think showed everyone why we had been so desperate to get Amy back home to Perth once her college career finished,” Petrik said.

“Amy’s clearly super talented, but it’s her character and culture traits that make her a next level athlete for us.

“There are very few players that can win a game almost by themselves, and we saw on multiple occasions last year that Amy is not only one of them, but can do it on a finals stage as well.

“Amy’s a really special talent, and we can’t wait to see the level she climbs to this year.”
