GANDINI ELEVATED TO MAIN ROSTER

July 29, 2022 | Perth Lynx news

Emma Gandini is the reigning NBL1 West Defensive Player of the Year and has been a defensive threat for the Willetton Tigers in the SBL/ NBL1 West for the past ten years.  Emma averages 4 steals per game, along with 13.71 points, 3 assists and 6.07 rebounds.

The Lynx are excited to elevate her to the main roster for the 2022/23 WNBL season after an inspired performance last season as a development player.

Head Coach Ryan Petrik said, “Emma worked her way up from simply trying out for a DP spot in 2021, into making the squad, into fighting her way into the rotation by the end of the season. We clearly thought she could play, but we were ecstatic at just how quickly she adapted to the higher level. Ganners brings a defensive mindset and toughness to our squad, as well as an energy and spark we needed multiple times last season. She gets her hands on the ball way more than you’d ever imagine, and those extra possessions will be invaluable to us in season 22/23.”

Working her way from a development player to a constant in the 12, she played 14 out of 20 games last season and brought defensive intensity into every possession.  When contemplating the elevation to the main roster Gandini had this to say, “I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to play with the Lynx for a second year, this time on a full contract. We got so close last season and I can’t wait to see what the team can do with our second year together! I can’t wait to play more home games in front of our amazing Lynx fans”.

The Perth Lynx roster for Season 2022/23 includes: Ryan Petrik (Head Coach) & Tayah Burrows, Lauren Scherf, Amy Atwell, Alex Sharp, Jessie Edwards, Sami Whitcomb, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard and Emma Gandini.

Announcements on additional player signings will be coming soon.
