LEAGUE MVP ANNELI MALEY SIGNS WITH THE PERTH LYNX FOR SEASON 2023-24

June 23, 2023 | Perth Lynx news

The Perth Lynx organisation are pumped to announce the signing of 2021-2022 League MVP Anneli Maley to the roster for the upcoming 2023-24 Season.

Coming from the Bendigo Spirit, Maley has been consistently successful, awarded the Suzy Batkovic Medal, the WNBL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2021-22 Season, and went back-to-back as the League’s leading rebounder.

Maley had a huge 2022-23 WNBL Season with the Spirit averaging 16.2 points, 11 rebounds and 2.1 assist per game, and then headed to Chicago for training camp with WNBA team Chicago Sky, where she played in 5 of their preseason hit outs. Maley most recently competed in Rathausplatz, Vienna with the Gangurrus at the 3×3 FIBA World Cup, where the team won Bronze.

Excited to head to Perth Maley said, “I’m really excited to be a part of the Perth Lynx family. I love the culture Ryan creates in his teams and the people he has recruited to suit the style of play. I can’t wait to immerse myself In the Perth basketball community, connect with the West, and for the Lynx family to get to know me and all my goofiness! See you soon Perth!”

Head Coach Ryan Petrik said, “Anneli is the best rebounder I’ve seen in my time in the WNBL, but there’s way more to her game than that. The tenacity and intensity she plays with, each and every possession, is infectious, and lifts everyone around her to play harder for longer. But it’s also the rate of improvement that’s scary, every season she comes back with new weapons to her game because she puts in the work.

The way Anneli likes to play, inside our pace and space styled system, should be a match made in heaven, and we cannot wait to start working with her.”

The Perth Lynx roster for Season 2023/24 includes:  Amy Atwell, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard, Chloe Forster, Miela Goodchild, Stephanie Gorman & Anneli Maley.
