Lynx come from behind for pre-season win

The Perth Lynx have defeated the Adelaide Lightning 80-77 in their second pre-season clash in as many days.

It was a closely contested game for the majority of the night, before the Lightning opened up a six-point lead with 3.30 left in the game.

However, led by an inspired fourth quarter performance from Imani McGee-Stafford, the Lynx turned it on down the stretch.

The home side went on a 10-2 run to take the lead and eventually the W.

Rookie Jewel Williams came up big with five-straight points including the go-ahead triple.

McGee-Stafford finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Meanwhile, Alison Schwagmeyer-Belger was the Lynx best for the game with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Nadeen Payne was damaging with 14 points including four three-pointers.

Marena Whittle showed she’ll be a handful this season with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Lauren Mansfield dropped nine assists in her first pre-season game of the year.

Jessie Edwards was Adelaide’s best with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Ruby Porter added 17.
