Lynx fall in OT heartbreaker

The Perth Lynx have fallen 93-97 to the Southside Flyers in an overtime heartbreaker in Dandenong.

After trailing by as much as eight points, the Lynx fought their way back with a 13-2 run in the fourth to send the game to a deciding extra period.

The extra minutes were closely contested, but the Flyers got away in the final minute to come away with the four-point lead.

Alison Schwagmeyer-Belger was outstanding for the Lynx.

She backed up her Round One double-double effort with a monstrous 34 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.

Imani McGee-Stafford was solid with 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, while Nadeen Payne’s 14 points included four three-pointers.

Lauren Mansfield had a near double-double with eight points and nine assists.

Both team’s shot at the same clip and only one rebound separated the sides.

However, coach Andy Stewart will be disappointed to see his team give up 21 points off turnovers.

The Lynx get the opportunity to bounce back on Sunday when they take on the Bendigo Spirit.
