Maley Signs on Again

Australian basketball star Anneli Maley is back in red for season 2024-25 in a massive coup for Perth Lynx.

After stunning debut year as captain, where she led team’s charge to the WNBL grand final, the 25-year-old has committed for next season in a boost for the Lynx’s championship hopes.

Maley headed west last season after two years at Bendigo Spirit and averaged a team-high 12.2 rebounds to go with 12.9 points and 3.1 assists per game.

In 25 appearances, Maley posted 13 double-doubles including a Lynx-record 21 rebounds on debut against Sydney Flames in November.

The 2021-22 WNBL MVP is currently in Melbourne preparing for Australia’s 3×3 campaign at the Paris Olympics.

Maley said she was excited to play in front of the “unmatched” Lynx community once again.

“I’m so excited to be back at Perth, the community that the Lynx have is unmatched,” Maley said.

“I love the style of play, I love the organisation and I love the Lynx fam. I can’t wait for WNBL 24-25.”

“We are so excited to have Anneli back with us this season,” Lynx general manager Samantha Macpherson said.

“She had a brilliant season with the Perth Lynx last year and we can’t wait to see how she builds on that for this season.

“We love that Anneli is not only such a great basketballer but also a fantastic human who leans into our community and what the Lynx are all about.”

It comes after the announcement of two-time grand final coach Ryan Petrik, who has signed on for a fifth campaign as head coach.
