Several of the 2016/17 Perth Lynx players have returned to action in the past week, as the State Basketball League and SEABL seasons get underway. The Lynx are well represented in the SBL, with Kisha Lee (Stirling), Tahlia Fejo (Kalamunda), Ashleigh Grant (Lakeside), Natalie Burton and Toni Edmondson (Perry Lakes) set to square off this season. Meanwhile, Carley Mijovic, Tenaya Phillips and Courtney Byrnes will all ply their trade for Frankston in the SEABL. The Perry Lakes Hawks are off to a flying 2-0 start, helped by Toni Edmondson (averaging 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals per game) and Natalie Burton (12.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 4.0 apg, 2.5 spg). Kisha Lee shone for the Stirling Senators in their season opener, going for 16 points and 13 rebounds, before backing it up with 12 points and seven boards in game two. Tahlia Fejo’s development continues as the young guard is set for a significant role with Kalamunda, and has averaged 8.0 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game thus far. In the SEABL, Frankston kicked their season off on Sunday 26 March, with Tenaya Phillips hitting the score sheet for 18 points and two steals. Carley Mijovic tallied nine points and 10 rebounds, while Courtney Byrnes notched four points in the Lady Blues’ loss.
