It was a strong week for Perth Lynx players around the leagues this week, with debuts, double-doubles and league records on offer. New recruit Alice Kunek has returned to Victoria after her time with French side Lyon FB, and linked up with her junior club, the Eltham Wildcats. Kunek played all 40 minutes on debut for the Wildcats, scoring 34 points to go with 14 rebounds and three steals, before backing up her efforts with 22 points and 10 boards in her second appearance. The newest member of the 2017/18 Lynx team was also named to the Australian Opals squad ahead of the FIBA Women's Asian Cup. 22 points and 11 rebounds from Toni Farnworth helped the Perry Lakes Hawks continue their unbeaten streak to open the season, with the 13-0 start seeing Farnworth’s side perched atop the SBL ladder. Natalie Burton tallied 18 points, nine rebounds and six steals for the Hawks, and will join Farnworth in the SBL All-Star Game on Monday 5 June. Fresh off a weekend which saw her tally 47 points and 21 rebounds, the SBL scoring leader Kisha Lee will also take the floor as an All-Star alongside her 2016/17 Lynx teammates. Tahlia Fejo continues to shoulder a significant load for the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, and enjoyed a strong weekend across the board, recording 23 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Ashleigh Grant helped her Lakeside Lightning to two victories, scoring 19 points to go with 10 boards throughout the two appearances. Finally, Sami Whitcomb enjoyed a breakout weekend with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, including an outstanding scoring burst of 22 points in just 15 minutes against the New York Liberty.
