There was plenty to like from the Perth Lynx players around the leagues this week, including All-Star appearances and a remarkable 40-minute performance. Alice Kunek delivered once again for the Eltham Wildcats, recording 21 points, nine rebounds and a pair of steals in her side’s victory over Waverley, playing the entire game without substitution. Olivia Thompson scored 16 points for the Forestville Eagles, with the former SA Premier League MVP continuing to lead the competition in rebounding. The SBL All-Star game took place on Monday, though not before a full slate of games over the weekend, featuring several familiar faces from the 2016/17 Perth Lynx squad. Toni Farnworth did it all for the unbeaten Perry Lakes Hawks, tallying 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals before adding 11 points and seven boards in the All-Star game. Tahlia Fejo stuffed the stat sheet for Kalamunda, scoring 19 points while adding seven rebounds, six steals and four assists. Ashleigh Grant added 11 points and eight rebounds to her season tally, as the Lakeside Lightning hung tough against the Willetton Tigers. Natalie Burton’s 13 points and six boards set the tone for a strong weekend from the centre, with her 18 points and eight rebounds leading the way for the North All-Stars on Monday. SBL leading scorer Kisha Lee added another double-double, scoring 21 points to go with 12 rebounds, before tallying 13 points and grabbing six rebounds in her first SBL All-Star appearance. In the WNBA, Sami Whitcomb’s Seattle Storm went 1-1 over the weekend, with the star Lynx guard scoring three points, along with two steals and an assist across both outings.
