PERTH LYNX SIGN WNBL COACH OF THE YEAR RYAN PETRIK ON MULTI YEAR CONTRACT

May 30, 2022 | Perth Lynx news

The Perth Lynx are delighted to announce the re-signing of WNBL 2021 Coach of the Year, Ryan Petrik on a multi-year contract.

After a challenging first season in 2020 at the helm, which saw his team relocated to Northern QLD for a five-week hub season, Season 2021/22 started similarly. After a delayed start and then seven weeks on the road, Petrik and his team pushed through the adversity to make a Grand Final Series. Taking the series to 3 games but ultimately falling just short, Petrik knows there is unfinished business with this team and is excited to tackle the upcoming season.

“I am very pleased to re-commit to the Perth Lynx. There are exciting things happening both on and off the court at our club right now, and I am thrilled to be a part of it for at least the next three years.”

“Whilst striving to strike a balance between having a largely WA based contingent of players and being successful at the same time; I have high expectations of what we as an organisation can achieve both now and going forward.”

Perth Lynx and Basketball WA CEO Rob Clement said, “Our value in Ryan as a person, in addition to his basketball knowledge were the driving forces behind our decision to offer him a multi-year deal to remain in Perth. The Executive and Board of Basketball WA acknowledged Ryan had a challenging covid impacted first two seasons as a new head coach with the franchise, and he deserved the opportunity to lead the side through a more stable season structure. We have no doubt Ryan will continue to work alongside the leaders of the team and push for another final’s appearance with the ultimate goal of winning a championship”
