Perth Lynx vs Dandenong Rangers: Semi-Final Game Three preview

March 3, 2017 | Perth Lynx news
The Perth Lynx face the Dandenong Rangers for the second time this weekend with a trip to the WNBL Grand Final on the line, as the sides square of in a series decider tomorrow afternoon. The Lynx downed Rangers 91-71 on Friday night, but now head to Dandenong for a winner takes all contest. It will be the fourth meeting between the two sides in the past three weeks, and Lynx guard Sami Whitcomb said she has enjoyed the physicality of these recent matchups. “That’s finals basketball.” “This is the style that (the referees) are allowing us to play, and I think it’s great for finals basketball.” Dandenong has not been a happy hunting ground for the Lynx this season, with Sunday’s visitors owning an 0-3 record in the Rangers building, but with a spot in the Grand Final up for grabs the Lynx have plenty of incentive to snap the streak. “I want to win a championship,” said Whitcomb. Carley Mijovic will play a pivotal role throughout Game Three, with a mid-series focal shift for the free-scoring forward helping the Lynx pull out a victory on Friday evening, while Perth will also look to contain Steph Cumming after her 30-point performance last time out. A fast start will be critical, with Whitcomb highlighting that it’s victory or nothing for her side. “We came to the party (in Game Two), and it was a really good win for us, but there’s one more game that we need to win, otherwise that doesn’t matter.” The Perth Lynx face the Dandenong Rangers on Sunday 5 March at Dandenong Stadium. Tip-off is 12pm WST, and you can watch the game live here.
