PERTH LYNX WELCOME HOME DARCEE GARBIN

June 20, 2020 | Perth Lynx news

It may be Darcee Garbin’s birthday on Wednesday, but she’s given old friend Ryan Petrik and Basketball in Western Australia the best possible early present, signing on to play for the Perth Lynx in WNBL season 2020/21.

While Garbin’s outstanding WNBL form for the JCU Townsville Fire has earned her inclusion in recent Opals squads, Petrik believes that the WNBL has not yet witnessed the best of Garbin. “The best of Darcee is definitely still to come, her upside is really exciting.”

The much-loved Garbin will play a big role for the Lynx, with Petrik expecting her to become the heart and soul of the program. “I’ve known Darcee for ten years now and she’s one of the best individuals you’ll ever get to meet.”

The lure of being able to play more regularly in front of family and friends played a large part in Garbin’s decision to return home to WA. “I’m really excited to be able to play in front of my family and friends. To be playing for Ryan again is fantastic and I’m looking forward to getting on court with a great group of players.”

Garbin joins fellow Opals squad members Sami Whitcomb and Katie Ebzery on the Lynx roster. Details about 2020/21 season memberships will be available soon.
