After starting in the WNBL with Bulleen and Dandenong, Kunek has enjoyed a successful career in Europe, playing extensively in France, Hungary and Poland.
A member of the Opals squad, Kunek is thrilled to be back home in Melbourne and is looking forward to being part of the Flyers team.
“It was time for me to come back to Australia and I could not be happier than having the opportunity to play for the Flyers, and the bonus is being back in Melbourne.
“It is an exciting time for the Flyers with a number of changes and I hope my experience will benefit the team. It is not just about on the court, it is also about off the court, and building a professional and enjoyable environment.
“I know Kristi is big on development, and that is part of the appeal of the Flyers, continuing to develop our game as individuals and as a team,” Kunek said.
Flyers Coach Kristi Harrower said the addition of Kunek will be great for the team on and off the court.
“We know Alice is going to be an important player for the team, we know how good a player she is. Importantly it what she brings to the team in all areas, her experiences in Europe and with the national team ensure she will bring real leadership to our group,” Kristi added.
Kunek is currently on the Gold Coast doing special comments for the NBL broadcast and will be joining the Flyers in Perth later this month for the HoopsFest pre-season tournament.
