Flyers chance to gain some momentum and celebrate Blicav’s 250th

The Flyers are back in action on Wednesday night at the State Basketball Centre for the final time before the New Year in what will be Sara Blicav’s 250th WNBL game, and there will be plenty of interest after the big victory over the Spirit prior to Christmas.

The return of Abby Bishop for last week’s game provided the Flyers with the starting five that has not been available in recent weeks, due to injury and illness. While Aimie Rocci missed the game through injury, it was as close to the ‘full squad’ as the Flyers have had since very early in the season.

While it was a fantastic win, the questions will be about consistency and if the win was one of those games where things went right for one team, while for the other it was a case of things just not working. Or was it the Flyers pressure that stopped the Spirit in their tracks?

Wednesday night against Canberra is the opportunity to show it was all about the Flyers and the style of basketball played in Bendigo is what we can expect for the rest of the season – a great team performance at both ends of the court.

It will also provide the opportunity to grab momentum and consistency as we head into the second half of the season. Last Friday’s victory was the first consecutive wins since the opening two rounds of the season. Since then the Flyers have alternated wins and losses, not the consistency we are looking for.

It promises to be a real family occasion at the State Basketball Centre with a 5:30pm start time and while the players will be working hard, it will be a relaxing evening for all supporters enjoying the holiday atmosphere. A great opportunity to join the Flyers family and celebrate Sara Blicavs play her 250th WNBL game.
