BEC COLE READY FOR THE CHALLENGE WITH THE FLYERS

July 6, 2020 | Southside Flyers news

An enjoyable first year with Southside in our inaugural season has ensured shooting guard Bec Cole is back with the Flyers for the upcoming WNBL season.

“I loved my first season with the Flyers. It was not just about the on-court success, it was such a great team and group of teammates to be around. We enjoyed the season; it was hard work but also a lot of fun and I feel very fortunate to be part of the Flyers.

“Unfortunately the on-court success didn’t carry through in the Grand Final series but, while disappointing, just adds to the desire in 20-21.

“Now it is about working hard and going one better this season,” Bec said this week.

Runner up in the WNBL MVP and selected in the All-Star 5 while playing for Dandenong Rangers in 2019, Cole continued her great form with the Flyers and was selected in the WNBL All-Star Second Team in 2020 and has joined the Opals squad for the Tokyo Olympics.

Cole also represented Australia in the 2019 3×3 basketball World Cup.

Flyers coach Cheryl Chambers said Cole was another key player for the Flyers and believes she continues to improve.

“Bec is a really important player in our team, most importantly for her playing ability, but also her bubbly personality which is infectious around the team. She is an incredibly hard worker and will play an important role in helping us improve in the upcoming season.”

The way she plays the game makes Bec a favourite with supporters. Quick and determined, her constant smiling and fun outlook can disguise her incredible will to win.

Rebecca Cole being back with the Flyers for the 2020-21 season adds to the excitement for Flyers’ fans.
