FLYERS MAKE IT TWO IN A ROW AT HOME

The Jayco Southside Flyers were too good for the UC Capitals on Sunday afternoon to record a second straight home win at the State Basketball Centre, 98-77.

Early turnovers by the Flyers and some defensive eras saw a tight first quarter, with the lead changing on three occasions, before the Flyers went into the first break with a 2-point lead.

Krisit Harrower and the coaching staff obviously made some minor adjustments and from the second quarter, the Flyers got right on top and outscored the Capitals by 19-points for the remainder of the game.

The scoring for the Flyers was spread across the team, with five players in double figures and in a further display of the team focus, the Flyers had 23 assists to the Capitals 16. The Flyers shot at 48% from the field compared to the Capitals 38%.

With a comfortable lead in the final quarter, all 13 players who suited up for the Flyers were given time on the court. The biggest cheer was for Manuela Puoch when she entered the game to play against her sister Nyadiew, who left the Flyers for the Capitals in the off-season. Important minutes for Development players; Nikita Young, Paige Burrows and Imogen Rock provided the experience that is central to the continued development of young players at the Flyers and in the WNBL.
