FLYERS SET FOR EARLY NOVEMBER START

July 16, 2022 | Southside Flyers news

Flyers fans are set to enjoy more home games in the upcoming WNBL season, with a return to the regular home and away season format.

In what will be the Flyers fourth season and the 43rd season of the WNBL, there will be 84 regular season games (21 games per team), with the WNBL confirming the season will commence on November 3.

Flyers Coach, Cheryl Chambers said everyone is looking forward to a regular season and the chance to mix with supporters after a difficult two years.

“We are really looking forward to playing a 21 game season and importantly, for the first time in two years, we will be able to engage with our supporters and the community, something we have really missed,” Cheryl said.

The WNBL season will commence shortly after the Opals campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Sydney, when women’s basketball will be in the spotlight.

Head of WNBL, Christy-Collier-Hill, believes this will generate greater interest and is excited about how the season is shaping up.

“We should see some real momentum and interest in women’s basketball off the back of the Women’s World Cup in Sydney, so it’s great we are kicking off just a few weeks after it’s finished.

“It’s a very exciting time for women’s basketball and the WNBL.”
