FLYERS TO START SEASON ON THE ROAD

The fixture for the Cygnett WNBL has been released and the Flyers will be on the road for the opening two games, including an opening game in Perth against the Lynx, in what will be a rematch of last season’s Grand Final series.
The game is scheduled to be played at 7pm Perth time, so for Flyers fans in Victoria, it will be a late start to the season with a 10pm Victorian time tip-off for the reigning WNBL Champions.
A trip to Geelong mid-week for Geelong United’s second game in the WNBL, before an eagerly anticipated home game for Melbourne’s only WNBL team, at the State Basketball Centre, against the Sydney Flames, on Saturday November 9.
The Flyers are scheduled to play nine home games at the State Basketball Centre with one game, on Wednesday January 22 to be played at Parkville. This game is during the school holidays while the Australian Open tennis tournament is being played in the city.
The regular season, which concludes on February 16, will consist of 85 matches as all eight teams play each other three times, while Semi-Finals take centre stage from February 22 followed by the best-of-three Grand Final series to be played on March 5, 9 and 12.
The Cygnett WNBL will once again celebrate and recognise Indigenous Round in Round 4 of the competition from November 20 well as delivering a third Fighting Period Poverty round in Round 12 from January 15.
The Flyers will again host a very special Lifeline Round in support of Lifeline Australia, with more details set to be announced prior to the season.
The broadcast schedule for the upcoming season will feature two ‘games of the round’, with the WNBL Wednesday’s on ESPN to continue, and a WNBL Sunday Showcase on 9GO also being added. The first time WNBL has been featured on a main free to air main channel in five years. All other games will be available on Nine’s free digital channel, 9Now.
Flyers Membership is set to be launched this week:
- 2023/24 Membership renewals will be on sale from Wednesday September 4. All members will receive details via email.
- 2024/25 Membership will on sale to the public from Tuesday September 10.
