This is it, the only Grand Final game at home this season and it is ‘backs to the wall’ for the Flyers as we strive to send the Grand Final Series to a third and deciding game back in Townsville.

One down in the best of three means there is no room for error and will require a big lift from the team and a huge Flyers crowd at the State Basketball Centre to provide a true home court advantage on Wednesday.

“We want a big, and load, crowd at the State Basketball Centre on Wednesday night cheering us on. It is like having an extra player and it will make a big difference,” Bec Cole said after playing in front of a vocal Townsville crowd on Saturday night.

It is time to move on after a disappointing game on Saturday night with the Fire getting off to a great start and never allowing the Flyers back into the contest. Bec Cole (20) and Sara Blicavs (11) the only Flyers in double figures. The Fire shot at 54% from the field, including 47% from beyond the arc, while the Flyers struggled to find the net, shooting at 44% from the field and just 23% from beyond the arc.

The Flyers go into a third consecutive Wednesday night game after a loss the previous Saturday night. And like last Wednesday night against the Boomers, there is no second chance. Win and take the series back to Townsville otherwise the series is over and Townsville will be the champions.
