Philadelphia to the Flyers – Mikayla Vaughn arrives in Australia
The Flyers are thrilled to welcome Mikayla “Mikki” Vaughn to the team for the upcoming WNBL season.
The 192cm centre had a strong College career with Notre Dame and spent time with the Minnesota Lynx in 2021 before heading to Europe where she has played in Italy, Belgium and more recently in Poland.

Mikki arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday morning, her first visit to Australia and was excited about being here and the opportunity to play with the Flyers and explore Melbourne. Surprisingly energetic after 21 hours flying time from Philadelphia to Melbourne via San Francisco, she was looking forward to the challenge of playing in the WNBL and playing under Kristi Harrower.
“I know of Kristi from her incredible basketball career and enjoyed speaking basketball with her on the phone recently. It is certainly lovely to be met off the plane by my new coach,” Mikki said after meeting Kristi at Melbourne Airport.
“I am very excited to be here in Melbourne, I have heard good things about the city,” Mikki added.
Aside from getting into training with her new teammates, Mikki had three things she was looking forward to after such a long flight – “something to eat, a coffee and a shower.” Within one hour of arriving Mikki was enjoying a late breakfast and a cup of coffee in a local cafe in Melbourne.
Mikayla will wear number 17 for the Flyers.
