ROCCI AND COLE LEAD THE WAY FOR THE FLYERS
Flyers bounce back on the roadÂ
The Flyers got back on the winning list with a 10-point victory over the Bendigo Spirit in Bendigo on Sunday.
There was a lot of interest in how the Flyers would respond to a disappointing game just three days earlier, and while it was a hard fought victory, it was important and ensured the Flyers remain entrenched in the top four.
The home team enjoyed a 5-point lead at the end of the first quarter (19-14), after leading by as much as 10 early in the game. A 25 to 18 second quarter saw the Flyers head to the locker rooms with a slender 2-point lead at half-time.
Both teams scored 23 points in the third quarter, making the way for a big final quarter at Red Energy Stadium in Bendigo. The Spirit levelled the scores with the first basket of the last quarter to get the home crowd on their feet, however it was the Flyers who took control of the game to draw away to a 10-point victory.
Maddy Rocci and Bec Cole top scored for the Flyers with 24-points each, Rocci adding 7-assists. Leilani Mitchell added 14-points off the bench and Lauren Jackson hauled in 10 boards to help the Flyers to lead the rebounding 37-31.
The Flyers final game before Christmas is in Perth on Saturday December 23. The next home game is at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday January 6. Tickets available Here.
